Here’s our buttery-sweet Chinese sencha with nothing added. I’m placing it directly into our permanent collection since we should always have this on hand.

You put your Earl Grey in my Jasmine!

Yeah, okay, so I was thinking of doing an Earl Grey or a Jasmine and neither seemed special enough for 52teas, so I figured, “We’ll do BOTH! In ONE tea!” So here it is, our awesome Chinese sencha blended with real jasmine blooms natural jasmine flavors and just a hint of natural bergamot flavors. It smells good enough it’s making me want to lick the mixing bowl.

My grandparents were part of that “Greatest Generation” of Americans. My grandfather served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he became an auto mechanic and opened his own garage. My grandmother was a registered nurse. In my recollection of her, I always thought she came from something of a well-to-do family, or she had aspirations to be a well-to-do family. (I can’t help but think about Hyacinth Bucket in the BBC comedy Keeping Up Appearances; my grandmother wasn’t that bad, but there was an element of Hyacinth in her).

Anyway, whenever the family got together at grandma’s house, she had these extravagant meals planned that frequently started with fruit cocktail. I can’t say why this fact has stuck in my memory more than others, but I remember the Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinners with fruit cocktails all around to start. I remember thinking it was like getting dessert before dinner.

So, in memory of my grandparents, here’s our delicious Chinese sencha blended with real peach, pear, pineapple and natural peach, pear, pineapple and maraschino cherry flavors. It’s so delicious, you could serve it as a first course.

As I write this, I am sitting here sipping on a delicious, icy cold stein of this tea. It is fruity without being hyper sweet, a bit tart but not puckering-tart, and marries well with our buttery-sweet Chinese sencha. Honestly, I can’t recall ever tasting elderberries before except from a local winery that makes some delicious elderberry wine (You should totally check them out if you like wine: Wyldewood Cellars). To me, it kind of tastes like something between a sour grape and a blueberry. However you describe it, it is delicious. (My 24-ounce stein has gone empty while trying to describe it to you, and it’s begging for a refill, so without further ado…)

So my wife likes to go to this place in the mall; I think it’s called “Smelly Stuff and Goop Werks.” And she always buys this Cucumber Melon soap, and the stuff just keep making me think I should create a cucumber melon tea. I mean, it really smells good enough to drink or eat, except for the fact that it’s soap and it would probably taste like soap. (Ma only had to wash my mouth out with soap once for me to learn that lesson, thank you very much.)

So anyway, here’s our amazing new tea of the week: Chinese sencha blended with real freeze-dried cucumber dices and natural cucumber and muskmelon flavors.

This one IS going to go fast, and I don’t have the ingredients to reblend it right now (took me a while to find freeze-dried cucumbers, let me tell you), so grab it while you can!

Sweet papaya with tart black currant and our amazing naturally buttery-sweet Chinese sencha. Give me a big glass of this with lots of ice and let me pretend it’s springtime already.

This blend has REAL dried black currants and freeze-dried papaya pieces!

Back in April, we created a Razzleberry Pie inspired black tea that has won over many of our in-shop and online customers. One of the more fervent fans of the Razzleberry black tea asked me why we didn’t make a green tea version.

Of course, I had no other response than to say, “Here it is!”

Our buttery sweet Chinese sencha green tea with real freeze-dried blackberries and raspberries and all natural flavors. This is a great treat for these waning days of summer. I think I’m going to make another big icy stein of it right now.

Hopefully this will brighten some of your Mundane Mondays.

This week’s tea is bound to put a smile (and maybe a pucker) on your lips. We’ve paired our sweet Chinese sencha with the tartness of California Granny Smith apples, for a treat that’s great hot or iced.

This blend has real bits of freeze-dried, nothing-added California Granny Smith apples and natural flavors. I’ve been drinking it iced and that touch of tartness adds a great dimension to our sweet sencha. Get it while you can. We’re only making four pounds of this one, and two are for our subscribers.
