I mean, it really smells good enough to drink or eat, except for the fact that it’s soap and it would probably taste like soap. (Ma only had to wash my mouth out with soap once for me to learn that lesson, thank you very much.)

So anyway, here’s our amazing new tea of the week: Chinese sencha blended with real freeze-dried cucumber dices and natural cucumber and muskmelon flavors.

This one IS going to go fast, and I don’t have the ingredients to reblend it right now (took me a while to find freeze-dried cucumbers, let me tell you), so grab it while you can!

This week’s tea is bound to put a smile (and maybe a pucker) on your lips. We’ve paired our sweet Chinese sencha with the tartness of California Granny Smith apples, for a treat that’s great hot or iced.


This blend has real bits of freeze-dried, nothing-added California Granny Smith apples and natural flavors. I wanted to call this our Sprall tea: a bit of SPRing strawberries and some fALL red delicious apples. Whatever you call it, it’s delicious. The freeze dried strawberry pieces and dried red delicious apple bits blend perfectly with our sweet Chinese sencha green tea to yield a tea that is all at once: gorgeous to behold, insanely lovely in the aromatic department, and sweetly delicious to drink. This is another blend that can be enjoyed hot or iced, and I’m confident you WILL enjoy it, with or without the stevia we were discussing on Twitter this week (stay tuned, I’m going to post that next).

Tea Tip of the Week

Sencha literally means “roasted (煎) tea (茶)” but in fact, it has become synonymous with the steaming method used in the production of Japanese green teas, so our Chinese sencha is actually steamed instead of pan-fired (like most Chinese green teas) to stop the oxidation process. This makes it a bit lighter and sweeter.

So, hopefully this was a happy accident, but I just realized (now that we’ve blended this up and are ready to roll with it) that our inspiration for this week’s tea, Mr. or Mrs. Submarinelight MAY have been referring to a TYPE of guava commonly refered to as the pineapple guava, rather than a combination of guava and pineapple. I re-read the orignial post on our forum, and I suppose there is no way to know for certain, but at any rate, here is my interpretation: Our lovely sweet green Chinese sencha, real freeze-dried pineapple and dried guava and the essence of both pineapple and guava. Enjoy!
