Lately I’ve been thinking I could use a bit of a sleep aid, and (in case you didn’t know already), chamomile actually has a natural, mild muscle relaxant in it, which many people use to help them relax/sleep. Still, if I’m going to drink chamomile, it needs to taste like something other than flowers.

So, without further ado:

Orange you glad we didn’t just do another ho-hum Orange tea? Oh, my darjeelings, we couldn’t do that to you!

Instead, here’s a blend of real Margaret’s Hope Estate Darjeelings blended with real orange peel and natural orange and cream flavors. It’s a Dreamsicle Darjeeling. There’s some purists out there who might find it an outrage that we would create a flavored blend with what is known as the “Champagne of teas”, but we’re not scared. Give this a shot and you’ll be wondering why no one has attempted it before.

Just remember that Darjeeling is a bit more delicate than most black teas. Some tea nerds would argue that it is technically an oolong, as it is only oxidized about 90%. The upshot of all of this is that you have to steep it in water just below the boiling point (180-190°) for three to four minutes only.

So, without further ado, here is our orangey-creamy, delicious darjeeling tea of the week:

If you’ve never had matcha before, it is a stone-ground green tea from Japan, traditionally served in Japanese tea ceremonies. Preparation involves whisking the powder into hot (NOT boiling) water to create a frothy green tea.

As with all of our Tea of the Week blends, this is a limited edition blend, and it’s likely to go FAST, so get yours while you can!

Stheno was known to be the most ferocious of the three sisters, having killed more men than her two sisters combined. So when we got a request from a user named Stheno to make a chocolate orange flavored black tea with real orange peel and real chocolate chips in it, we said, “Yes, ma’am.”

Truth is, we think it turned out really good; good enough to appease the gorgon in all of us. So here it is, our tea of the week as requested by the immortal Stheno and blended, flavored and packaged by us. Get it while you can.

Incidentally, please do take a minute to browse through some of our previous teas of the week. We did our year end inventory this week, and we found a little extra of some teas I thought we were out of. Get them now, because once they are gone, they’ll really be gone this time.

Lastly, congratulations to Kypris who will receive a free pouch of this week’s tea of the week for submitting the winning photo for our label this week. To participate in next week’s photo challenge and for a chance to win a free pouch for yourself, please follow us on Twitter.

Back by Special Request!

We just started offering this tea at Zoomdweebies and the reaction so far has been GREAT! It appears our customers are enjoying it hot, iced and with and without cream and sugar.

This week’s tea is a strongly aromatic spiced orange. It has our premium black tea, orange peel, real cinnamon stick pieces, a tiny bit of clove, safflowers for a bit more color and all natural flavors. The orange is the high note here, with the spices providing just a little edge. This is a great tea, and I don’t expect it is going to last very long at all.

Thanks to Stacia for a great suggestion. If you have an idea for our tea of the week, please leave a comment in our new discussion forum and we’ll see what we can do.

We can do custom, full color labels too, so consider what picture you might want on the label. Maybe we could do a wedding blend with the happy couple’s engagement picture on it, or a baby shower blend, or a blend inspired by your favorite pet/Uncle/co-worker… you tell me. We’ll be looking forward to your ideas.
