I had one of those immobilizing, forgot-to-take-my-bloodpressure-medicine-three-days-in-a-row headaches Monday and yesterday was Tea Tuesday (the one day of the week our brick and mortar shop, Zoomdweebie’s Tea Bar, is open) and there was just no time to get it done. Anyway, I hope it was worth the wait, and if early reviews at the tea bar are any indication, I think you guys are going to love this one.

You’re probably wondering just who the heck Chelsea is. Well, if you’ve ever ordered tea from us and gotten the wrong tea or your tea has been late, it was Chelsea’s fault. Chelsea is my little bubble-headed assistant with attitude. She knows I would only say that out of a deep and abiding loathe… I mean, love.

Honestly, Chelsea is my right-hand girl and I couldn’t operate 52teas or Zoomdweebie’s without her. When she complained (did I mention she is quite whiney?) that we had created Frank’s Apple Cider Rooibos in my honor and Sheri’s Blend for my wife, but no tea bearing her namesake, I said, “Yeah, so?”

After a few more months of whining, I decided that maybe I should spare my ears and let her have her own blend, and this is what she said she wanted: A chocolate covered banana rooibos.

Well, it’s just like Chelsea, a bit sweet and fruity all at once.

So here it is, our Chelsea’s Chocolate Banana Rooibos with caffeine-free African Rooibos, milk chocolate chips, organic cacao nibs and freeze dried bananas. If you guys don’t buy it up and make me reblend it and make it a permanent fixture, I’ll probably have to listen to Chelsea whine about it, so please buy it up.

Here is a real summertime treat. Trust me when I tell you that you haven’t lived until you’ve had a blueberry pear tart or fresh-baked blueberry pear muffin. I’m going back to my southern roots for this one and hoping y’all will come along with me and enjoy the ride.

In thinking about the best tea to pair the blueberries and pears with, I naturally gravitated towards the green rooibos. It has a kind of tart/citrusy flavor to it which goes great with the blueberries and pear. Last time we offered a green rooibos (Strawberry Green Rooibos Experiment) it was as a midweek blend and it sold so fast, I barely got to try any for myself. Tea Tip of the Week

Rooibos is not actually tea. It is a caffeine-free tisane which comes from an evergreen shrub which grows in Africa. What you are infusing are the actual needles of the plant. Rooibos is reported to have anti-viral and anti-mutagenic properties.

Makeupmorph suggested that we create a fig flavored rooibos, and though it took me a while to get everything we needed to create this blend, I hope you will agree that it was worth the wait. Here then is our fig flavored African rooibos with real dried fig pieces, real cinnamon and all natural flavors. Enjoy!

So, I just got in some GREEN (non-oxidized) rooibos. I had never tried this before so I wanted to see what it was like. I’m not sure why I didn’t order enough to make it one of our tea of the week offerings, but I was just thinking I wanted to try it out. Anyway, I have two pounds of it, and after a few tasting sessions and some of your suggestions on Twitter, I thought it would be best with strawberry. So we’re giving it a whirl.

So I guess being the boss has its privileges. Yeah, I sort of short-cut in the line of suggestions forming on our forums to create a blend that I have been thinking about for a few weeks now. Hopefully our growing number of followers and subscribers won’t mind when they get a taste of this caffeine-free apple cinnamon bliss.

In my defense, I am waiting on a few items to be able to craft some of the tea blends folks have suggested, and I’m also trying to keep a good mix of things coming for our subscribers–not too many black teas or chais or chocolate teas in a row, that sort of thing.

Aw, who am I kidding? I just really wanted some apple cider rooibos. Hope you really want some too. I made four pounds of this blend, and 2+ are already spoken for by subscribers and my wife, who tried it tonight and threatened my life if I didn’t bring some home. So get yours while you can. This one is going to go FAST.
