Back when I first started blending teas, before I went into business, I created this amazing, caffeine free blend of red rooibos, apricot pieces, cinnamon and marigold flowers. It was and it remains my wife Sheri’s all time favorite out of everything I’ve created. It also happens to be consistently our number one bestseller at Zoomdweebies.

I also think I got the best comment I’ve ever heard on a tea blend before with regard to this tea. A customer took a sip and exclaimed, “This tastes like Christmas!” I’m not sure where that came from, but I was happy to hear it.

Here is a real summertime treat. Trust me when I tell you that you haven’t lived until you’ve had a blueberry pear tart or fresh-baked blueberry pear muffin. I’m going back to my southern roots for this one and hoping y’all will come along with me and enjoy the ride.

In thinking about the best tea to pair the blueberries and pears with, I naturally gravitated towards the green rooibos. It has a kind of tart/citrusy flavor to it which goes great with the blueberries and pear. Last time we offered a green rooibos (Strawberry Green Rooibos Experiment) it was as a midweek blend and it sold so fast, I barely got to try any for myself. So, be sure to get yours before they’re all gone. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did.

Tea Tip of the Week

Rooibos is not actually tea. It is a caffeine-free tisane which comes from an evergreen shrub which grows in Africa. What you are infusing are the actual needles of the plant. Rooibos is reported to have anti-viral and anti-mutagenic properties.

Makeupmorph suggested that we create a fig flavored rooibos, and though it took me a while to get everything we needed to create this blend, I hope you will agree that it was worth the wait. Here then is our fig flavored African rooibos with real dried fig pieces, real cinnamon and all natural flavors. Enjoy!

So, I just got in some GREEN (non-oxidized) rooibos. I had never tried this before so I wanted to see what it was like. I’m not sure why I didn’t order enough to make it one of our tea of the week offerings, but I was just thinking I wanted to try it out. Anyway, I have two pounds of it, and after a few tasting sessions and some of your suggestions on Twitter, I thought it would be best with strawberry. So we’re giving it a whirl.
