 Old-Fashioned Gingerbread Black Tea!

Tea Description: The inspiration behind this blend is simple - good, old-fashioned gingerbread. The freshly baked,  spice-laden cake that tastes (& smells!) of ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg & allspice as well as a hint of vanilla & a caramel-y, molasses-y sweetness. The kind of holiday treat that you'd want to enjoy a hot cuppa tea with. 

This blend combines the best of both - bringing together a rich, smooth black tea base of organic Assam, Ceylon & Yunnan teas with the spices & vanilla & caramel notes of a sweet, cake-y gingerbread. So warm & inviting. A perfect cuppa to enjoy this holiday season.

Oh & it's organic, VEGAN, gluten-free & allergen-free too!

When I first decided to create this Old-Fashioned Gingerbread black tea blend, I worried that it seemed a bit too familiar, like something that we had made in the past. So I had my doubts. But now that I'm sitting here, sipping this, I'm glad that I decided to go with this. Even if it does sound a little familiar, I am loving every sip of this tea. 

There is a really pleasant balance of black tea & gingerbread flavors here. It's well-spiced but I still get lots of cake-y flavors, a smooth vanilla tone & notes of the aforementioned molasses/caramel. It's really quite lovely & a perfect cuppa for the holidays & beyond. Warm. Smooth. Sweet yet spicy. A cuppa YUM!

to brew: give the pouch a good shake before you measure it out - the spices like to filter to the bottom of the pouch & a gentle shake will redistribute those throughout so that you get a fair representation of all the spices (including the vanilla bean & shaved nutmeg) in your measurement. 

use 3g of leaf to 12 ounces of nearly boiling water (205°F) & allow to steep for 3 minutes. strain & allow to cool for at least 10 minutes. enjoy!

As with any spice-laden tea, I do recommend a bit of sugar (sugar & spice - so nice together!) but not a lot. This has a pleasant sweetness to it & you don't want to overwhelm it - you just want to enhance the spices. About 1/2 a teaspoon per 12 ounce cup will do!
