Tea of the Week for December 16, 2019: Candy Cane Truffle Black Tea!
Posted by on
Tea Description: This tea utilizes our beautiful Fujian gunpowder black tea - this tea looks just like a green gunpowder but it's a black tea! It has a natural chocolate-y note to it that's so amazing! I thought it would make the perfect base for this tea.
To the black gunpowder tea, I added peppermint leaves, cacao shells, mini vegan chocolate chips & organic, vegan candy cane bits! This tea is quite wonderful: sweet, chocolate-y and minty! My chocolate mint loving daughter heartily approves of this tea!
It's also VEGAN, gluten-free & allergen free!
ingredients: black tea, organic peppermint leaves, organic cacao shells, mini (vegan) chocolate chips (cane sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter), organic candy cane bits (organic cane sugar, organic brown rice syrup, natural peppermint flavor, color added [derived from organic fruit juice]) & organic natural flavors
YUMMY! This tastes just the way I would think a candy cane truffle would taste! Chocolate-y flavor with a lovely note of peppermint that isn't too aggressive & doesn't overpower the chocolate flavor. Granted, when you bite into a truffle, you have a lot of creamy, decadent texture and flavor that you're not going to get from a cuppa tea because, well, this is tea. But you get the essence of the flavor with a fraction of the calories & little (if any) fat. So this is a delightful alternative to those who might be seeking something deliciously chocolate-y & minty without all of the worry that goes along with those caloric treats.
to brew: because this is made with a gunpowder green tea, you don't need quite as much tea in your measurement. start by giving the pouch a gentle shake to incorporate all those ingredients. then measure 2 1/2 grams to 12 ounces of nearly boiling water (205°F) & allow to steep for 3 minutes. strain & allow to cool for about 10 minutes. enjoy!
