Tea of the Week for March 11, 2019: Lime Marshmallow Treat Genmai-ChunMee Green Tea!

Lime Marshmallow Treat Genmai-ChunMee Green Tea!
Tea Description: This is a deliciously different marshmallow treat genmaicha!
Instead of using the usual organic Matcha infused Genmaicha - which is made with a combination of Japanese Bancha and toasted/popped rice which is then lightly dusted with Matcha - I combined organic Chinese Chun Mee with toasted/popped rice (also organic) to use as a base for this blend.
To this "Genmai-ChunMee", I added marshmallow root, lime leaves and dried lime segments to create our newest Marshmallow Treat tea: Lime Marshmallow Treat Genmai-ChunMee!
And it is so good! It's also VEGAN, all-organic, gluten-free and allergen-free!
organic ingredients: green tea, toasted/popped rice, marshmallow root, lime leaves, dried lime segments & natural flavors
Yummy! I just love this new Genmai-ChunMee base! It works well with these flavors of lime and marshmallow. The combination of lime and marshmallow is bright and tart yet sweet and creamy. A really wonderful contrast in flavors. It's something I wanted to put together for some time, but I was not so sure about using the usual genmaicha base because it tends to be somewhat softer - and I thought that a stronger base would be better with the lime and marshmallow.
My mind immediately thought a Chun Mee would work nicely because it tends to have a naturally acidic flavor to it- playing well to the lime notes. Plus the flavor is a little more substantial than Japanese bancha - which is what is usually used in Genmaicha. So I decided to try it - and I'm loving it! These flavors work so well together!
to brew: before measuring, make sure that the tea is well-blended by shaking the pouch gently for a few seconds. This will ensure that the ingredients are well incorporated. measure 3g of tea (roughly about a slightly heaping teaspoon) to 12 ounces of hot water - heated to 175°F - and allow to steep for 2 minutes. strain and allow to cool for a few minutes, I suggest about 5 minutes, before sipping commences.
