 What the Fluff? Black Tea

Tea Description: During our last inventory, I realized that we're about out of our French Vanilla Marshmallow Assam & so it is about time to replenish our vanilla and/or marshmallow black tea in our permanent collection (aka D's Teas!) 

This time around, I started with our lovely Chinese black gunpowder tea which has a naturally sweet flavor to it. Then I added a little bit of Laoshan black tea (a tea known for it's chocolate-y tones) and a little bit of Fujian black to round out the blend. My goal was to create a really smooth tasting base blend that wasn't too astringent or aggressive. I wanted something that would allow the fluffy notes of vanilla to shine through. while still offering a really pleasing, rich black tea flavor. 

I believe I accomplished that! This blend is really flavorful. Bold & assertive - without bitterness & without overpowering the softer, fluffier notes of vanilla. The overall cup is really smooth & oh-so-pleasant to sip. It's also VEGAN, gluten-free & allergen free!

Yeah! This is good! 

Since the time that I announced that the most recent addition to D's Teas (our permanent collection) would not be a specific tea, but would be a black tea that would be either a vanilla, a marshmallow or a combination of the two - I've blended our French Vanilla Marshmallow Assam several times to fill that spot in our permanent collection. I did this mostly because I had our organic Assam tea available in our inventory - so I went with that was the easiest to blend based upon what was readily available. So, admittedly, it seemed like while the black vanilla/marshmallow tea was not supposed to be one specific blend - it was starting to feel like it. 

So, it was about time that I either reblend something other than the French Vanilla Marshmallow Assam OR I create a new blend. I opted for the latter. 

This blend really works for me. The base is so smooth & flavorful & plays so well to the fluffy, soft, creamy vanilla notes. Beautiful for a breakfast blend - or really - any time of day that you want a delicious vanilla tea! 

to brew: give the blend a gentle shake before you measure as the vanilla beans are ever so tiny and like to shift to the bottom of the pouch. measure 2 1/2 grams of leaf to 12 ounces of nearly boiling water. steep for 3 minutes, strain & allow to cool for about 10 minutes. enjoy!
