Tea of the Week for October 29, 2018/Retro Monday/Featured Reblend for October: Butterbeer Black Tea!

Posted by on

Butterbeer Black Tea!

Tea Description: Yay! This is one of my favorite blends of all time - and it's one that I get frequent requests to reblend - so I was more than happy to reblend it as my Featured Reblend/Retro Monday tea for Harry Potter month. In fact, one might argue that one of the main reasons I'm so excited about Harry Potter month *IS* the reblend of ButterBeer tea! I love this stuff!

The last time I reblended this was two years ago - as the retro blend for October. Here's my description from then:

I was really excited when this tea was voted to be the tea of the week for October's Retro Monday because 1) I loved the original blend of this tea, and; 2) I was the one (or at least, one of the ones) who bugged Frank to create a Butter Beer tea! So I was excited to try blending this one myself.

This is how Frank described the original blend:

I got my recipe directly from The Three Broomsticks: Premium black teas blended with a bit of essence of rootbeer, a bit of butter vapors, some licorice root, chichory root and a touch of magic. Our Butterbeer tea is the beverage of choice for wizards of all ages, and if you have no idea what I’m referring to, please go on about your muggle life, this blend is for Harry Potter fans only. Well, okay, I guess muggles could enjoy it too. It is truly unique and delicious. A blend worthy of the 52teas brand of creative flavored teas. Enjoy!

I started with a base of organic black teas from China and India and added roasted chicory, licorice root, sarsaparilla root and vanilla bean (the original didn't have sarsaparilla or vanilla bean but I decided that it should have it). Then I added some calendula petals (to make it pretty) and some special magic ingredients (aka organic, natural flavors).

The result is absolute tea drinker bliss!

I stayed true to my original recipe with this - because I loved it so much that I didn't see a need to improve upon something so delightful. It's vegan, organic, gluten free & allergen free . . . and it's delicious!

organic ingredients: black teas, licorice root, chicory root, sarsaparilla root, vanilla bean, calendula petals and natural flavors

If I were to create a top-ten list of my all-time favorite blends, this one would certainly make the list. I love this tea!

I'm not really sure what more I can say about this tea that I've already not said - if you want to know more about how I feel about this tea, click here for my previous review of my reblend of it - or - you can check out my review of Frank's original here.

to brew: this is one that doesn't do so well when you overleaf it - so go with just a nicely rounded teaspoon of the leaf (or 3g) to 12 ounces of near boiling water (205°F) and steep for 2 1/2 - 3 minutes. strain and allow to cool for at least 10 minutes for best flavor. Enjoy!!!
