Amortentia Green Tea
Tea Description: Amortentia is the most powerful love potion in the Potterverse. It has a different aroma for every person who smells it - and as a muggle, I couldn't create a tea that smells differently for every tea drinker - so I had to focus on some of the things I would smell if I were to smell a cauldron of freshly brewed Amortentia: chai spices because I love a nicely spiced chai. Strawberries and cream because - YUM! And finally: green tea. I think I love the scent of green tea (over all the other types of tea) because it has such a pleasing, grassy scent that evokes thoughts of my childhood, playing in the green grass of my gramma's backyard.
So my Amortentia is a strawberries and cream green tea chai. I started with a blend of organic Chun Mee and Gunpowder green teas and added lots of strawberries and some chai spice: cinnamon, cardamom, clove, ginger and nutmeg. And because strawberries are always better with a bit of cream, I added some vanilla bean and marshmallow root.
While I can't guarantee that brewing this tea for someone will make them feel obsessive, love-ish feelings for you - drinking this tea may cause one to feel obsessive, love-ish feelings for the tea because - YUM!
And - of course this tea VEGAN, organic, gluten-free and allergen-free.
organic ingredients: green teas, strawberries, marshmallow root, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, ginger, nutmeg, vanilla bean & natural flavors
Yep, I'm in love! In love with this tea!
I love how I can taste each of the flavors of this tea: I taste the green tea - sweet and lush; I taste the strawberries and I taste the creamy notes of the vanilla and marshmallow root; and I taste the chai notes. It all comes together in a really lovely way - the strawberries are fruity, slightly tart and sweet, the vanilla and marshmallow root is soft and smooth, the chai notes are warming and the green tea adds a pleasant, slightly grassy note. It's really quite wonderful.
to brew: be sure to give this tea a good shake to make sure that all the ingredients are well-incorporated. use 3g of leaf to 12 ounces of hot water (175°F) and steep for 2 minutes. Don't oversteep! strain and allow to cool for about 5 minutes or so. I prefer my chai blends with a little bit of sugar (or honey) because it brings out the spice a little bit, and just a wee bit of sweetener does help to round out the flavors of this cup just a bit so I do recommend it here. It's nice without the sweetener - but much better with it.
