Tea of the Week for September 10, 2018: Ginger Lime Gunpowder!
Posted by on
Tea Description: A simple recipe - green tea, limes & ginger root (plus lime leaves and candied ginger) - but sometimes the simple things can be quite wonderful! This is a rather nice tea - the gunpowder might seem an unlikely choice but I love the fresh, buttery, somewhat nutty flavor of our organic gunpowder tea. I thought the natural flavor profile of the gunpowder tea would offer a nice contrast to the bright, tangy lime flavor and the zesty warmth of the ginger.
A really tasty, refreshing drink that's organic, vegan, gluten free and allergen free!
organic ingredients: green tea, ginger root, lime leaf, limes, candied (sugared) ginger & natural flavors
I love this - so energizing!
The ginger doesn't hit you immediately. It starts as a slight heat in the aftertaste. As you continue sipping, the ginger develops. By mid-cup, the ginger is in your face! The lime starts out a little bit subtle at first too - just a hint of brightness in the sip. With each sip, more of the fruitiness of the lime comes forward. It's tangy but not sour because the ginger cuts through that a bit - and the lime softens the bite of the ginger a bit - creating a really delightful balance in these contrasting flavors. It's a truly refreshing drink!
The palate feels clean and refreshed after I take a sip. I feel invigorated with every sip!
to brew: give the pouch a really good shake before you open it - the lime leaves tend to filter to the bottom! 3g of leaf (a little less than a level teaspoon since the gunpowder is a small, compact leaf - measure a level teaspoon and shake a little bit off.) to 12 ounces of hot water (175°F) and let it steep for 2 minutes. strain and enjoy!
Even though we're heading out of "iced tea weather" - if you prefer your tea iced - this one makes a spectacular iced beverage! Of course - it's awesome hot too!
