Winter Mint Oolong
Tea Description: Our 8th Tea of Christmas & our 3rd Brand-New blend for our holiday box is this - our Winter Mint Oolong tea! It starts out with a lovely Tie Guan Yin Oolong Tea & is blended with Wintergreen extract, Vanilla extract & spearmint leaves for a lovely minty, creamy taste that's sure to please!
I went with the combination of wintergreen & spearmint rather than peppermint because I find that peppermint can be a bit more aggressive in flavor, and I wanted something softer for the Oolong. The Oolong offers a silky, sweet base, the mint is cool & refreshing and the vanilla is soft & creamy. It's really quite a wonderful Oolong blend!
It's also organic, VEGAN, gluten-free & allergen free!
organic ingredients: oolong tea, spearmint leaves & natural flavors
When it comes to deciding what new blends I'll craft for the holiday box, sometimes I have those plans already locked before I even put out the poll for the customers to vote on the reblends. But in the case of this blend, I didn't know what I was going to create. After the votes were in and I was assembling the list, I realized that we didn't have anything minty on the list of teas. Mint is a favorite flavor around the holidays, so I decided I wanted a minty tea. It also just so happened that around that time, I had a received a shipment of organic Tie Guan Yin so this tea just kind of came together.
This really tastes nice - it has just enough mint to be cool & refreshing without being mouthwash-y. The vanilla accentuates the natural creaminess of the Tie Guan Yin. It's smooth, it's creamy, it's sweet & your mouth feels is ready for that surprise kiss under the mistletoe after you sip it!
to brew: shake the pouch (the spearmint leaves should be equally dispersed throughout the tea) & measure 2 1/2 grams of leaf to 12 ounces of hot water (180°F). steep for 3 minutes. strain & allow to cool for about 5 minutes before you start sipping.
Don't forget to resteep these leaves! Good for at least 2 - 3 resteeps!
