Tea of the Week for May 17, 2021!
As I've mentioned previously, caffeine-free blends are not necessarily my favorite blends - but I don't dislike them. I enjoy honeybush & red rooibos blends, but my favorite tends to be the green rooibos. It has a naturally light & fruity flavor that goes so well with other fruit flavors - making green rooibos blends to be the ideal choice for my fruity spring & summer caffeine-free creations.
What is a Lemonberry Whip? My thought for a Lemonberry Whip is something like a soft serve ice cream - made with lemons, berries & a barely there hint of cream. Lemons should be prominent, along with berries - blueberry & blackberry. There should be just enough vanilla to sweeten it up but not so much that this becomes a 'cream' flavored cuppa.
So, I started with the green rooibos base - to which I added some lemon myrtle & dried lemon wedges. Then I added a little bit of marshmallow root - just to soften the base a little. A little bit of vanilla extract. Some blueberries & blackberries. Perfect!
I think I met the challenge with this blend: bright, tangy lemon-y notes, a sweet medley of berry notes & just a kiss of vanilla. YUM!
This blend tastes great hot, but it really shines as an iced tea & since it's about that time of year, I'd say it's just right for right now! It's also organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-free & of course - naturally caffeine-free!

Lots of sweet, fruity flavor. A lovely tart note from the lemon - the presence of the vanilla & other fruits keeps it from being pucker-y - so it's just tart enough to perk up the taste buds without it being sour. This is perfect for the summer months ahead!
to brew: be sure to shake the pouch every time you brew this one, because in addition to whole blueberries & blackberries, these fruits have been broken as well as crushed into a fairly fine powder - so you want to be sure to get some of those powders in your measurement!
use 3 1/2 grams to 12 ounces of very hot water (heated to 190°F) & steep for 10 minutes. (you can steep it longer, if you wish, this won't get bitter from being oversteeped!) strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes. this will allow the flavors to develop.
Enjoy! This tastes good with or without sweetener. I prefer it without the sugar because it has a really nice, fruity sweetness to it without the sugar. A little bit of sugar does bring out the vanilla notes a little more & it ends up tasting a bit more like a dessert - so if you're looking for a treat type of taste for your teacup - add just a little bit of sugar!
